Update on Ospreys – July 17, 2006

My Ospreys are fine. It looks like there is one youngin’ in the nest. There is an adult in the nest too, but the young one has a shorter tail and I can see him exercising his wings. Oh, I wish I had my not yet purchased spotting scope.

This morning there is a family of ducks swimming in the Osprey’s swamp. There is a mama and 5 chicks, I think they are Ring-necked Ducks, or Ring-bills, as the people up here call them. This find will be my little secret as this duck is ranked 3rd in the species of ducks that are harvested in the fall in Minnesota.
