The last few days I have started scouting the Vermilion Gorge Hiking Trail in preparation of my BIG day on June 4th. I have been concerned about the silence of the woods, but I think the migrants are just starting to return, it is early. This morning I was thrilled to see and hear a couple of Ruby-crowned Kinglets. They were 5 – 10 feet away from the edge of the trail and I was actually able to see the Ruby-crown. There were also at least 5 Winter Wrens calling from the woods and a couple of Hermit Thrushes were singing too. Hang in there.
