Swans on Crane

This morning there were large white shapes on the other side of Baylis Bay on Crane Lake. Upon further investigation with my bins I saw they were 2 Swans! It seems the Trumpeter Swan population in Minnesota is growing and the resulting problem for the Swans is finding adequate nesting territory. Well, there’s a lot of habitat up here, I hope they remain in the area.

The other evening the light was perfect to get a shot of this beautiful male Mallard Duck. They are so pretty, it seems especially in the spring of the year. Their hormones are raging and the colors seem more vivid; note the bright orange legs and greenish bill.
