Pine Grosbeak
This Pine Grosbeak still has some rust feathering.
The Pine Grosbeaks have pretty much left Crane Lake for northern places. Most years these beautiful birds have moved on by March 15th. This year is the same, yesterday I heard and saw small flocks moving through the area, but they weren’t coming down to the feeders. However, there are still many Redpolls in the area. They are going through the thistle seed.
The ruffed grouse are taking advantage of the free lunch. There are 3 grouse in this picture. I think the one in the back is the male. Later on he got puffed up and followed the females around.
