Last night I heard a Grouse drumming, something you usually only hear in the spring. But the males will drum in the fall and they will also display. I’ve read that the drumming and displaying birds are young males setting up territories.
Other birds of note recently are the first SNOW BUNTINGS of the year; 2 SURF SCOTERS, Mourning Dove (not usually in our northern woods), and Black-backed Woodpecker.
