Ruffed Grouse

This is a great time of the year to look for Ruffed Grouse. They like to hang out in Aspen trees and eat the buds. Grouse also like Birch and Alder, this may be a Birch tree. I like how this grouse was caught in mid-bite!

The male Ruffed Grouse have been displaying all winter long. I haven’t heard any drumming yet, but soon enough we should be hearing that unusual mating call.
