Rare Hummingbird visits Crane Lake

Rufous Hummingbird

This hummingbird is not necessarily rare, but it is “out of range” here in Minnesota. The Rufous Hummingbird is a bird from out west. They breed from Alaska through the Rocky Mountains. This little hummer winters in western Mexico.

This little bird visited my feeder on September 23, 2017. I think it is a female by the speckling on the throat. She hang around until the next morning, and then I didn’t see her after that.
