Ospreys have returned

After the long winter, we are happy to see that the Ospreys have returned to their nest in the big beaver pond by the Voyageur Statue.

While I watched for the brief time that I was there, the male Osprey flew in with a small fish. He landed on the nest and gave it to his mate. So touching!

They usually return right around April 15th, but I think they were a little late this year. The lakes are still frozen over for the most part, but the rivers are raging with spring run off and I’m sure the Osprey will find plenty to eat.
