Osprey Nest – March 30th

I’m trying to figure out where I wrote down the date of when the Ospreys returned to their nest last spring. I’m thinking it was early April, but darned if I can remember where I wrote it down – I must get organized! Every day I have been keeping my eye on the Osprey nest and yesterday afternoon there was something big sitting by the nest. I quickly turned the car around to get a better look and there was an Eagle sitting there. I wonder if they are going to take over the nest. Remember what I said last year, Bald Eagles have caused the Osprey population in Voyageurs National Park to decline. There are several reasons for this and one of them may be the taking over of nests due to the increasing population of Eagles. It is the perfect location for a big nest as it is out in the middle of a very large swamp.
