Yellow Lady Slippers
The weather has been a little unsettled lately, to say the least! So what better way to spend a rainy afternoon than to don a pair of swampers (rubber boots) or better yet, a pair of chest waders, and go out into the bog in search of Orchids.
Yellow Orchid
In this Cedar Bog we found a lot of Yellow Lady Slippers, other wildflowers were blooming as well.
Cypripedium parviflorum
The flowers are so beautiful with the raindrops on them.
Orchid bud
This Orchid is ready to burst into bloom. Can you tell which one it is?
Showy Lady Slipper
The Minnesota state flower: the Showy Lady Slipper! So pretty.
(By the way, Orchid hunting is fun on a sunny day too!)
Just remember:
In Minnesota it is illegal to pick or transplant any of theĀ Orchids and many of the other native wildflowers as well. Please only take pictures!
