Northern Hawk Owl

I spotted a NORTHERN HAWK OWL just south of the town of Togo yesterday afternoon around dusk. We might be seeing more of the northern owls this winter as I have heard that the vole population in Canada has crashed. Evidently, the vole population is on a 4 year cycle, so the last big invasion of northern owls was in the winter of 2005 which means we might be in for an invasion this year.

  1. Please report this siting to Mike Hendrickson at smithvill4@charter.net. He is keeping track of the northern owl irruption. Great find!
