Last fall I heard about several sightings of the Northern Cardinal in and around Crane Lake. According to the latest issue of BIRDERS WORLD magazine, the Northern Cardinal is expanding its range northward, and has shown up on the Christmas Bird Count in Fort Frances and MORSON, Ontario.

Good Morning Dee, We were pleasantly surprised to observe a Norhern Cardinal this morning in Angora. It has been feasting on our crab apples.

Wow, that’s great! October and November is when the Cardinals moved through the area last year. Let’s hope a few stay around – they’d be such a cheerful addition to our long winters.
