Native Grasses

Redpoll Grass

"Redpoll" Grass

I wish I knew what kind of grass this is, because come winter the Redpolls love to eat the seeds. Actually right now in the fall, the seed heads of all grasses and weeds are  “bird magnets”! Sparrows, especially, are attracted to the bounty, and the Warblers that are straggling through are also going after the seeds.

It’s fun to watch, during the dead of winter, the Redpolls balancing atop a tall stalk of grass eating seeds and blowing around in the wind.
