Nashville Warbler

Nashville Warbler

I found this Nashville Warbler the other day on my steps. Apparently he had struck a window and was a little dazed. I hate to take advantage of birds when they are in this condition, but it does gives one an opportunity to observe these incredible birds up close.

Chestnut patch on Nashville Warbler

Note the chestnut patch on the top of his head – usually this is very hard to see. The good news is that he recovered and flew away shortly after I took these photos.

Chipping Sparrow

Another small bird that has been frequenting my yard: the Chipping Sparrow.
