Fall Berries

High-bush Cranberry

One plant that is putting on a show right now is the High-bush Cranberry. The berries are turning a brilliant red. Birds love the berries, and these bushes will usually bring in flocks of Cedar Waxwings in the fall.

Also hanging around cleaning up on berries have been Robins and Gray Jays.

This late summer we have had a family group of Gray Jays hanging around Nelson’s Resort. I’ve been putting out scraps of bread for the Gray Jays and they have been coming around more often. These large gray and white Jays are not very afraid of people and they seem almost tame.
