It’s Deer Hunting season. While most people don’t want you to hunt in their backyard, there are lots of places to go hunting in the Crane Lake area.
Taking in the whole state of Minnesota there are 7 1/2 million acres of national forests, state forests, national parks, state parks, national wildlife refuges, nature centers, and wildlife management areas. The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness alone consists of over a million acres of public lands. Excluding the mountainous states to our west, Minnesota has more public lands than any state east of here.
While there is no hunting in Voyageurs National Park, there are plenty of places to hunt in the Superior National Forest and the Kabetogama State Forest which lie to the south, east and west of Crane Lake.
