Chipping or Pine?

Two birds that sound very similar to each other:

Pine Warbler

Pine Warbler

Chipping Sparrow

Chipping Sparrow

Both birds hang out in the same type of habitat, the piney woods. Although the Chipping Sparrow is also found in many backyard situations as well. It takes a while to learn the difference between the two trills. They say the Pine Warbler has a more musical trill. I’m not too sure what a musical trill sounds like, but the Pine Warbler actually has two songs that they use. The first trill type song is slower and slightly lower pitched. The second type of trill song that they sing sounds kind of like the gray tree frogs that we have up here, and that’s the song that sounds a lot like the Chipping Sparrow’s.
Pine Warblers occur where there are Red and White Pines. We have Pine Warblers through out the area. Up in Voyageurs National Park they can be found on some of the islands.
