
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Several Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers have been visiting the “wells” on this Birch tree all summer.

Many other birds also take advantage of the drilled holes that leak sap. The sap attracts insects too and the birds will sip the sap and also lap up any savory insects that may be lurking. Just this morning, there were Yellow-rumped Warblers and Orange-crowned Warblers swirling around the holes.
